10 Things You Didn't Know About Yoda
5. His 'Legends' Stuff Is Insane
The immense backlog of books, computer games, radio plays and other supplemental Star Wars material was excised from canon at a stroke by Disney after acquiring Star Wars. Everything that got in the way of Star Wars' future development was deemed 'Legends' and no longer troubled filmmakers with the needs to accommodate all of this material in the movies.
As much as this annoyed die hard fans, it was probably just as well because some of the Legends stuff is utterly bonkers.
Yoda, as such a prominent character, was far from immune to being embroiled in the Legends madness. For instance, did you know he once fought a family of deranged cannibals on Dagobah? Well, he didn't, but once upon a time that was something the movie Yoda was assumed to have done.
In addition, all manner of smugglers, Jedi, Sith and other random drop-ins turned up on Dagobah to give Yoda something to do while serving his exile from the galaxy. Given how he was supposed to be living in isolation, the Legends universe sure threw a lot of stuff at the hermit Yoda, including Vader putting a massive price on his head and the subsequent bounty hunter shenanigans.
