10 Things You Learn Rewatching Goldfinger

1. No, It's Not The Best Bond Film

Goldfinger is often mentioned as the best James Bond film ever, and while that was certainly true for a time, it's an argument that's decidedly less convincing today.

Goldfinger's strongest contemporary rival is surely Casino Royale, which touts arguably the strongest action sequence in the franchise - the thrilling opening Madagascar chase - not to mention its best-ever Bond Girl in Eva Green's Vesper Lynd, and overall reinvents the series so refreshingly.

This is a classic Bond film, no question, but some of its goofier and more dated elements don't really stand up to re-evaluation, and if it's your favourite Bond film, there's a good chance nostalgia is playing heavily into your opinion.
