10 Things You Learn Rewatching Halloween III: Season Of The Witch (1982)
6. Santa Mira Is A Tangible Setting
The bulk of the film's runtime is set in the fictional town of Santa Mira, and this is very much a strength.
The setting is at once high-concept sci-fi, in that it's an all-Celtic town practically run by Silver Shamrock with security cameras on every corner, and grounded, in that it is the kind of small town with devoted local businesses.
The movie devotes a good chunk of the runtime exploring this town and the people who live in it. From exploring the various locations and local-owned businesses that profit because of Silver Shamrock's success, to showing viewers exactly what kind of consequences non-believers must face.
This makes for an excellent location that is distinctly different from Haddonfield and fits perfectly with the Twilight Zone/Invasions of the Body Snatchers aesthetic Carpenter, Hill, and Wallace were all going for.
