10 Things You Need To Know About Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4
3. They Were Also Planning 5 And 6
If making another Spider-Man film after the total disaster of the third entry seemed like a significant act of hubris, you don't know the half of it. Not only did the cancellation of Raimi's Spider-Man 4 mean that film was kaput, but pre-production work also halted on a projected fifth and sixth film, presumably with the same director and cast.
Not only that, but it was planned that he fifth film would be shot concurrently with the fourth, in the manner of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy or the first two Pirates Of The Caribbean sequels. Which was a pretty monumental workload, and a big commitment by everyone involved.
How exactly would that have worked? It's hard to say. It would probably have meant Spider-Man films coming out one year after another, instead of a gap of a couple of years. It might also have meant that the villains got a little more spread out. It might also have been awful.
