So how does Shazam actually fit into the universe? Well hes been a member of the Justice League for quite some time although rumours are he wont be a member in the cinematic universe. Shazam has been a member of various iterations of the Justice League over the years. At first he clashed with the team and their beliefs, especially Superman, who considered Shazams ideas about right and wrong too simplistic for how the world really works. In fact, the pair once came to blows and inadvertently flattened a Lex Luthor house complex much to the villain's delight, a confrontation that led to Shazam leaving the team of superheroes. He does also form a friendship with younger member Cyborg, so that could be developed at some point as well. Unfortunately, it seems that no one will be seeing Shazam joining with the Justice League or the DC Cinematic Universe as a whole. Toby Emmerich, whose company New Line are making the film, has said that Shazam will have a tone unto itself and although its a DC comic its not a Justice League character. Thats all very interesting if not a little bit disappointing, heres hoping its not true.
