10 Things You Need To Know About The Star Wars Spin-Off Movies

5. Hasbro€™s Toy Slate Suggested They Could Deal With Boba Fett And Han Solo

On top of Yoda, one of the most pervasive rumours about the Star Wars spin-offs is that the first two movies will look at the pre-Original Trilogy antics of Han Solo and Boba Fett, the two coolest characters in the galaxy. Shortly after Disney's acquisition, Entertainment Weekly reported on this story, albeit with a major disclaimer - things were so early on in development that everything was subject to change. After all, this was only just after Abrams had been appointed as Episode VII's director. There's still not been any official word in the two years since, although a leaked release plan from Hasbro last year revealed the key marketing points for their Star Wars licence in 2016 and 2018 were Fett and Solo respectively. That heavily points towards the pair being the spin-offs' focus points, although again it could all be preliminary ideas. The same mystery-busting problem that hampered the prequel's representation of Anakin could certainly rear its head here (who wants to see cool characters before they were cool), although in terms of the Star Wars iconography, these are two strong picks to hang the spin-offs on. Unlike Luke, this pair were heavily involved with the wider galaxy conflict, their origins allowing the likes of Jabba the Hutt and Darth Vader to come back, something implicitly impossible in the proper sequels.
