10 Things You Need To Know About Tim Burton's Batman Forever
1. It Might Have Been Batman Begins
One of the most exciting recent pieces of information about a potential final Tim Burton film came during an interview with original Caped Crusader Michael Keaton. During an appearance on stand-up comedian Marc Maron's interview podcast WTF, the actor claimed that he was pulling for a very different approach to the third Batman film before he decided to walk off the project entirely.
Apparently Keaton has been keeping close tabs on the franchise even after he left, being a fan of the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy in particular. In fact he tried to get a similar take on the character off the ground when he was still playing Bruce Wayne, meaning that Batman Begins could've happened a decade earlier.
You look at where he went, which is exactly what I wanted to do when I was having meetings about the third one, Keaton told Maron. I said you want to see how this guy started. Weve got a chance here to fix whatever we kind of maybe went off. This could be brilliant. A Batman origin films by Burton, with Robin Williams as The Riddler, Brad Dourif as The Scarecow, more Pfeiffer Catwoman, and Marlon Wayans as Robin? Oh, to live in that world. Instead we got...well, this.
