10 Things You Need To Know About Tim Burton's Batman Forever

2. Robin Was Going To Be Introduced

They probably wouldn't have found a way in with Burton's interpretation of Robin, The Boy Wonder, either. As it happens the Dynamic Duo would've finally come together in Batman Forever, with Chris O'Donnell taking the part with a performance characterised by sh*t-eating grins, bad one-liners and utilising martial arts to sort washing.

When Batman 3 was still under Tim Burton's stewardship, however, the character would've gone down a very different path. Instead of the relatively unknown O'Donnell the part was set to be played by Marlon Wayans. In fact he was properly cast, with Warner Bros having to buy him out of his contract to replace him with O'Donnell. Why would you replaced Marlon Wayans with Chris O'Donnell?

Only the execs, in their infinite wisdom, could answer that. Might've been some weird racial connotations about rich Bruce Wayne adopting a young black man, but also a black Robin would've been pretty excellent.
