10 Things You Need To Know About Tim Burton's Batman Forever

9. It Had A Terrible Title

Batman Continues
Warner Bros.

Whilst the Schumacher films followed a trend of being first naively optimistic €“- Batman Forever €- and then pretty unimaginative €“- Batman & Robin - €“the titles of the Tim Burton films had a loose narrative structure all their own. Just as the films directly follow on from each other so too do the titles in order to reflect that, with Batman followed soon after by Batman Returns.

About as imaginative as Batman & Robin, sure, but there's also something kinda charmingly simple and concise about the two titles. It's a trend that would apparently have continued with the third of Tim Burton's Dark Knight films, which was due to be called...Batman Continues. That's a bit naff, isn't it? Batman Returns sounds sort of badass. Batman Continues rivals only The Force Awakens for a big blockbuster film that has a title that inspires tedium more than excitement.

Oh good, Batman's continuing on just as he did before. Yawn. That's not the name of an upcoming box office smash. That's like the title of a highly critical review.
