10 Things You Never Noticed In The Cornetto Trilogy
4. Famous Cameos (Hot Fuzz)
Hot Fuzz didn't have quite so many of those little audio Easter eggs, instead going with the visual cameos instead. Still, cameos where the stars in question were hidden behind so many props or bits of costume that you don't actually realise you're seeing multiple Oscar winners dropping into a pretty goofy action movie spoof. The film opens with a run down of Nicholas Angel's history with the Met police force, including being stabbed by a crazy Santa and being involved with various drug raids. One of those dealers? Director Garth Jennings, who helmed The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy and Son Of Rambow. Oh, yeah, and the crazy Santa is no less than Peter Jackson, director of the Lord Of The Rings films (who actually had his start in gruesome b-movies like the zombie comedy Braindead). He was probably the one who got the pair onto Cate Blanchette. Yes, Cate Blanchette is in Hot Fuzz, didn't you know that? She's the crime scene investigator who breaks up with Angel at the start, her identity concealed by goggles and a mask. Oh and one of the other investigators is Joe Cornish, director of Attack The Block, who was also a zombie in Shaun.
