10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Dumbo (1941)
9. It's An Oscar Nominated Movie
Arguably the best moment (or one of the best) within the film is the heartbreaking Baby Mine sequence, where Dumbo visits his mother in prison, but the two can only connect through intertwined trunks.
The lullaby was recorded by Betty Noyes (the same performer who dubbed for Debbie Reynolds in Singin' in the Rain) and produced by Frank Churchill and Ned Washington.
Baby Mine left such an impact on audiences, it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 14th Academy Awards. Additionally, It is also listed on AFI's "100 Years... 100 Songs" as one of America's greatest film songs.
The film may have lost the Oscar for Best Original Song but did recieve one for Best Music, also composed by Frank Churchill.
