10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Dumbo (1941)

7. There Was Almost No Timothy Mouse

In the original book Dumbo is based on, the titular hero actually had a sidekick called Red Robin, and Timothy Q. Mouse never even existed. The book concluded with Dumbo and Red heading to Hollywood with a signed film contract.

Robin was changed to Timothy because of the folklore joke that elephants are afraid of mice, overall adding to the film’s whimsical tone.

Furthermore, Timothy almost got his own song called "Sing a Song of Cheese". But it was unfortunately cut because it didn't have much relevance to the overall plot.
