What Is It?: Worldwide-famous property trading game that will find you wringing the necks of your family members while digesting Christmas dinner.
And It's Weird Because...?: While the double-crossing and conniving behaviour makes for a great "bonding" session with the in-laws, is it really fertile ground for a movie, especially when it prides itself on its cartoonishness yet was once being circled by Ridley Scott? A script has been in the bag for some time, though Universal, who were originally lined up to release the flick, passed on it, and it is instead being funded by the aforementioned Emmett/Furla partnership. Perhaps the strangest thing is that Monopoly will be a live-action movie, with rumours suggesting it would be a self-aware take on the board game, in which a man somehow enters the Monopoly world. Ridley Scott remains attached as a producer, but this one has disaster written all over it.
