9. Suburbicon

Suburbicon marks an interesting role reversal for the Coen Brothers. Although they’re frequent collaborators of George Clooney’s they’re usually sitting behind the cameras, while Clooney performs for them. Joel and Ethan Coen may have written Suburbicon, but Clooney is taking up directorial duties this time around, for the first time since 2014’s Monuments Men.

The Coen’s original script for Suburbicon, a nuclear-family revenge thriller, actually dates back to 1986, but only begun shooting in October of last year. Anything directed by the Coen Brothers is worth keeping an eye on – they remain one of the most consistent directorial partnerships in the history of the medium, having directed lauded hits like Fargo, No Country for Old Men, Inside Llewyn Davis, and last year’s fantastic Hail, Caesar!

The movie stars previous Coen collaborators Oscar Isaac and Josh Brolin, as well as Julianne Moore and Matt Damon, and is expected to be released at some point in 2017.
