10 Times Borat Went Too Far

9. Crashing the White House

Needless to say, the Kazakhstani government were not pleased with how their country was depicted in the first Borat movie. As well as threatening legal action against Sacha Baron Cohen, they set out on a publicity campaign to improve the international image of their country.

Part of this was by paying visits to foreign countries and the United States was one of them.

Never one to pass up an opportunity for a good joke, Cohen suited up as Borat and rushed to the White House one day before the Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev was scheduled to meet with President George W. Bush. He was quickly turned away by disgruntled Secret Service agents, but several nearby reporters were more than happy to speak with him.

Borat told them that the assurances from the Kazakhstan government of his country being a place where women and Jewish people are treated equally were all, “disgusting fabrications”. He added that this was likely all the result of a propaganda campaign by the “very nosy” country of Uzbekistan and pledged that his country would soon begin their “bombardment” of their neighbours.

Nearly causing wars seems to be all in a day’s work for Borat.
