Kevin Yagher, who is more widely-known in Hollywood as a special effects expert than a movie director, was tasked with co-directing the fourth film in the Hellraiser series, alongside Joe Chappelle. Like many old horror movie sequels, Hellraiser: Bloodline had a low budget and troubled production.

The original plan for the film was to put less of a focus on the iconic Pinhead villain and give more screen-time to other characters. The movie was going smoothly and everyone on board seemed happy with the progress being made, until production executives at Miramax got a look at it.

They said that Pinhead needed to be more heavily involved and demanded reshoots of various scenes. At that point, Yagher had had enough. He left the project, saying he didn't want to watch his original vision morph into something completely different.

Chappelle stayed on and finished the film, but Yagher asked for his name to be removed from the credits, with Alan Smithee added in its place. Hellraiser: Bloodline was the last film in the series to be released in cinemas and was received negatively overall, with some reviewers shaming the executives for ruining what sounded like an interesting idea.
