10 Times Directors Projected Their Strange Fetishses In Mainstream Movies

7. David Lynch - Dreams

David Lynch is famous for the dreamlike quality of his films. They often border on, or cross the border into the surreal and the weird. Dreams are interesting indeed, and it does seem like David Lynch is fascinated with them, incorporating them into his work as much as he does. He's admitted to this fascination - he stated that he prefers the waking dream as they can be controlled. He uses cinema to visualize the power of the waking dream. Most famously, his movie Mulholland Drive is like one long dream sequence. Lynch even denied to explain the plot of the movie, leaving the interpretation entirely up to the audience's and critics' speculation. No one is sure exactly what happened, what the relationship is between the characters of the movie (if there even is a relationship and it wasn't all dreamed up).
