Bond fans went into mourning when it was announced that super-suave Pierce Brosnan would not be reprising the role, and proceeded to go through the five stages of grief when Daniel Craig was confirmed as his replacement. Denial came first, with 007 fan forums awash with stories that the reports were false, followed by widespread anger when they realised that they were indeed true.

The general opinion among 007 fanboys was that Daniel Craig simply didn't look like the Bond they knew and loved from previous films. Anti-Craig websites sprung up in defiance, leading fanboys to speculate among themselves on the liklihood that Craig would do just one movie (bargaining), sulk about how well received his Bond debut was (depression) and finally realise that he was here for the long run (acceptance).

While some still maintain the opposite, the common consensus is that Craig's Bond was one of the best ever, and his decade long stint as 007 has been the most successful period in the history of the franchise. Upon its release, Craig's first film Casion Royale (2006) became the most successful Bond movie ever, only to be eclipsed by his future films.

Currently, Skyfall is the highest-grossing film in the entire Bond series and the 15th highest-grossing film of all time, proof that fanboy fears about Craig's stint as Bond were completely unfounded.
