10 Times Horror Movies Got Weapons Wrong

8. Liquid Nitrogen Can't Shatter A Person's Face - Jason X

One of the most iconic kills in the history of the horror genre is surely the incredible liquid nitrogen death from Jason X, where Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) attacks scientist Adrienne (Kristi Angus), dunks her head in a vat of the cold stuff, and then smashes the frozen remnants on the counter, shattering her face into tiny bloody fragments.

Fans have inquired enough about the "realism" of the scene that MythBusters themselves even attempted to recreate it in 2009, using a number of synthetic and animal substitutes for a human head.

Ultimately they found that the film's depiction of liquid nitrogen as a viable weapon was hugely exaggerated, as even submerging a pig's head for a full 15 minutes couldn't cause it to shatter when hit with a large hammer.

More to the point, it takes far more than a few seconds of contact with liquid nitrogen to do any real damage, let alone turn someone's face into a popsicle.

Then again, this is a movie where Jason is literally tackled to Earth from space at the end, so realism was clearly never the goal.
