While some instances on this list could be put down to villains trying to be too clever for their own good, this entry just makes no sense whatsoever. In this oriental adventure, Sean Connery's Bond investigates the sabotage of space travel that sends the world to the verge of World War 3.

In his efforts to stop the evil plans, Bond finds himself captured by SPECTRE operative Mr Osato, before being left in the company of fellow SPECTRE operative Helga Brandt. It is here when things get real strange real quick. Brandt appears to rescue Bond, making out with him before seemingly escaping with him on a small plane.

Bizarrely, this is part of Brandt's plan to kill the British spy, trapping Bond with what appears to be a sturdy pull out table, before releasing a flare in the plane and parachuting away.

Apart from the unnecessary destruction of SPECTRE property, the decision to save Bond from execution only to try and kill him in a more convoluted manner makes no sense whatsoever. Bond manages to escape of course and the first sign that the writers were starting to run out of ideas was there to see.
