10 Times Movies Unexpectedly Spawned An Animated Series

9. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures

It's a real shame that we had to wait nearly 30 years to get a follow-up to Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Thankfully, back in the 1990s, the time we had to wait between gorging on Bill & Ted content was much shorter. Within the space of five or so years, we had two movies, video games, a Marvel comic series, and of course a most triumphant animated TV show.

Really, the concept of an animated series to spin-off from Bill & Ted was a no-brainer. There are few better movies that set up the potential for wacky serialized shenanigans than Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, where they could time jump till their heart's content and explore places a 1980s movie budget couldn't.

The first iteration of the show was the most bodacious, not only was the animation cool and it carried an absolute earworm of a theme song, but it was also voiced by the original cast.

That's right, Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, and even comedy legend George Carlin reprised the roles in the cartoon, a most excellent move that was sadly not repeated for the ill-planned follow-up series, and absolutely awful live action show. The less said about that, the better.
