10 Times Requiem For A Dream Scared The Hell Out Of You

4. Harry's Infected Arm

If you're squeamish, look away now. This drug scene almost beats the dead baby scene in Trainspotting. Harry reveals to Tyrone his infected arm; and boy, does that vein look messed up. If the black infection around the hole where he shoots up heroin isn't enough, a close up of him sticking a syringe into it yet again is enough to make even the more stable of individuals want to vomit. It's a well known scene from the film, mainly because it's so hard to rid yourself of the image of that nasty infected arm after you've seen it. When he shows it a second time, it gets even worse, like a black and red mouldering disease all up his arm. It's Scary Because: no one should ever be so desperate as to do drugs in that kind of physical state. Or anything, in fact.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
