10 Times Star Wars Refused To Give Fans What They Wanted

6. The Amount Of Saw Gerrera Teased In Trailers - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

News of Forest Whitaker not only joining the Star Wars universe, but being brought aboard Gareth Edwards' Rogue One as none other than Partisan leader Saw Gerrera - a character previously seen on-screen during The Clone Wars animated series - left many licking their lips at the sort of earth-shaking performance that could be heading their way.

And the film's early teaser trailers seemed to only add further fuel to the idea of Whitaker putting in a mesmerising shift as the Rebel extremist over the course of the 2016 outing, with his powerful "What will you become?" monologue to Jyn Erso being an undoubted standout in said early footage.

Only, by the time the finished flick blasted into theatres, these moments were nowhere to be seen, with fans robbed of Whitaker's bald, younger version of the battle-hardened Rebel for the most part and instead exposed to a wild-haired and unintentionally hilarious cybernetic mad man.

It's clear the character was massively rejigged during Rogue One's reshoots, and in the process the version of Saw fans were likely hoping for - and could possibly be heading their way in the Andor prequel series - was ultimately left on the cutting room floor.
