10 Times Star Wars Totally Trolled You

The sequel trilogy had its new heroes, now it needed a big nasty villain for them to go up against.

Whilst Adam Driver's Kylo Ren was the more prominent baddie in The Force Awakens, it was made clear that he was serving a greater master in Supreme Leader Snoke.

Snoke was positioned as the mastermind behind the First Order and the series' eventual big bad. That was, until he was suddenly killed off in the following movie.

In The Last Jedi, Rey is brought before Snoke and tortured for information about the location of Luke Skywalker. Conflicted by his newfound morals, Ren saves Rey by cutting Snoke in half with a lightsaber.

And this time, no amount of Dathomirian sorcery was going to bring him back.

After being set up as this all-powerful overlord, Snoke was done away with in pretty underwhelming fashion.

There was a lot of potential for this to be interesting, as Snoke's death was such a big curveball. Things could have worked out if Kylo had just taken his place, subverting the expectations of him as a servant.

However, that's not what happened.
