10 Times The MCU Was Right To Forget The Source Material

9. Hank Pym's Treatment Of His Wife - Ant-Man/Ant-Man & The Wasp

Hank Pym's MCU appearances so far have seen him act as a mentor in some capacity to both Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, in a similar way to how Tony Stark took Peter Parker under his wing. He was the original Ant-Man, and helped Scott and his daughter continue that legacy.

Even in the MCU, Hank isn't going to win father of the year any time soon, but he still a good man, and cares deeply for Hope, while trying everything to get his long lost wife back to him. In the comics however, he wasn't quite so loving towards Janet.

During Avengers #213, Hank had taken on the villainous Yellowjacket role, and attempted to build a murderous robot that only he could defeat. As Janet tried to reason with him, Hank struck his wife in the face, and continued on with his work.

In this single panel, with this irredeemable act, Marvel forever marked the character as a domestic abuser. Thankfully, this part of Hank Pym's history was left entirely out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, allowing him a fresh start with a mainstream audience.
