10 Times The MCU Was Right To Forget The Source Material

8. Korg's Personality - Thor: Ragnarok/Endgame

When Taika Waititi took over the reigns of the Thor franchise, he completely transformed it from one of the MCU's lesser properties, to one of its best. There is so much to love about Ragnarok, with one of the most entertaining aspects being Korg.

Played by the director himself, the Kronan instantly became a fan favourite, thanks to his hilarious one liners and general outlook on life on Sakaar, and was a more than welcome inclusion in Avengers: Endgame. As wonderful as he is, he is certainly a far cry from the comic book version of the character.

During the Planet Hulk storyline, one that inspired a big part of Ragnarok, Korg became an ally of the giant, green, rage monster. Far from comic relief, Korg was a seasoned warrior concerned with battle and survival, nothing more, similar to the Kronan that Thor destroyed at the beginning of The Dark World.

It certainly wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world had Waititi kept the character as he was, but without such a change he never would have become such an iconic character, and certainly wouldn't have had fans demanding his own movie or Disney+ series.
