10 Times The MCU Was Right To Forget The Source Material
2. Certain Comic Accurate Costumes
Thanks to the pre-existing loyal fan base that Marvel Comics have established for themselves, there is always a certain degree of expectation from audiences with regards to the characters of the MCU. Such heroes have been around for sometimes decades, and demand to be done to justice on the big screen.
Some of this comes down to the characters' costumes. Often iconic outfits, such as the Iron Spider are anticipated by fans for years, while others are completely left out altogether. When the MCU does this, it is usually for the best.
As popular as some costumes are, many just wouldn't translate to the big screen effectively, or haven't aged particularly well. Scarlet Witch's costume in the comics, for example, has been little more than a corset in the past, something far too revealing and nowhere near suitable for a Disney movie. Similarly, the likes of Vision, Zemo, and the majority of the Guardians have been given new outfits and aesthetics to work with, far superior to that of the comics.
Many of these comic accurate costumes have been used by the MCU, but in a satirical way, rather than seriously. Luke Cage and Captain America were both given their original costumes as something of a joke and an easter egg for a scene or two, and WandaVision has teased a similar situation for its titular characters. Often the MCU's designers have been able to come up with something far better than the comics of many, many years ago.
