Taking a detour into the world of television for a moment, we have this encounter between Criminal Minds actor Thomas Gibson and a writer/producer named Virgil Williams.

Gibson starred as Aaron Hotchner for 12 seasons of Criminal Minds, as well as serving as an occasional producer behind the scenes. It was during one of the episodes where he was producing that he had an altercation with Williams.

There was a disagreement over some aspect of the script, and, when Virgil Williams followed Gibson to remonstrate further, the actor kicked out and made contact. Neither man describes the kick as anything with huge intent behind it or claims that it injured anyone severely, but his backstage loss of temper ended up costing Thomas Gibson his Hotchner role on the show.

It's generally understood that Gibson had already been on thin ice following a number of incidents, and he had also been undertaking anger management counselling at the time. Previously, he had pushed an assistant-director during filming and been convicted of a DUI on two separate occasions.

Gibson was initially slapped with a two-episode suspension and issued an apology, but was fired shortly afterwards.

Verdict: Double DQ for lack of engaging
