10 Times They Were Worried What Movies Would Do To You

8. TMNT II Would Encourage Sausage-Based Attacks

Yes, you read that title correctly.

In one of the most bizarre entries on this list, the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze had the BBFC concerned that the movie may lead to a rise in sausage-based attacks on innocent members of society.

The BBFC had already taken umbrage with certain martial arts weapons being used in the first TMNT picture back in 1990, and similar concerns reared their head a year later for The Secret of the Ooze. Whilst there had been a ban on any use of nunchakus - as in Michelangelo's weapon of choice - things took a strange turn when the BBFC saw the Turtles' resident 'party dude' playing around with a bunch of sausages.

Barely five minutes into the movie, Mikey twirls a link of sausages while interacting with a couple of thugs. In reaction to this, the BBFC forced all shots of the pork products to be removed due to how - and this is a genuine quote from the BBFC - any "streetwise 8 year old" would be influenced to use sausages as a form of nunchakus in real life.
