9. Mike Peterson

After Mike Peterson's troubled spell with Centipede powers, he was taken in to S.H.I.E.L.D. custody in order for him to be rehabilitated, while his son was handed over to his sister Mindy. However, Raina (the Girl in the Flower Dress) found his son's location and threatened to hurt him unless Mike handed Phil Coulson over to her. Seeing that he had no choice, Mike told Coulson that he was going to hand himself in (making Coulson think Raina wanted Mike) and they met her on a bridge. When Mike tried to break off the deal by threatening Raina's life, Coulson told Mike that he understood what he had done and handed himself over to Raina. Mike got his son back but decided to go back for Coulson to make things right. At that point, Raina destroyed the bridge in a huge fiery explosion that would surely have killed Mike. It didn't, however, as he was revealed to have survived. But he was discovered by Centiped agents and taken in by them, where he would become the organisation's controlled cyborg henchman for a while.
