10 Times You Wanted Things From Movies (THAT DIDN'T ACTUALLY EXIST)
4. The Talkboy (Home Alone 2: Lost In New York)
With the first appearance of Macaulay Culkin's Kevin McCallister in Home Alone leading to so much commercial success, both at the box office and in toy stores, John Hughes and the rest of the folks bringing the sequel to life felt it would be an ace idea to debut a toy in the follow-up that just about every kid on the planet would desperately want upon witnessing Lost in New York.
Sure enough, the unleashing of the Talkboy, a handheld voice recorder, led to the item's creators Tiger Electronics legitimately making the real deal that would be made available that Christmas to buy. The only issue was that their version of the Talkboy didn't possess the same voice modification setting used by Kevin in the flick, meaning not that many kids were all that interested in this inferior product.
By the following year, though, that all-important feature was finally present in the Deluxe Talkboy. And the toy was so damn successful that the company struggled to produce enough of them to match the extremely high demand.
After all, what child wouldn't want to possess the tools to easily book themselves into a five-star hotel in NYC, eh?
