10 Times You Wanted Things From Movies (THAT DIDN'T ACTUALLY EXIST)
3. Hoverboards (Back To The Future Part II)
Some eight years on from the year 2015, and Back to the Future fans are still sat here wondering when the world is going to get around to mass producing the greatest mode of transport ever conceived: The hoverboard - no, those weird two-wheeled contraptions do not count.
Those who were around back when Part II made its big-screen debut, however, were actually very much preparing themselves for a day in the seemingly not too distant future when they too could dart around their neighbourhood on the levitating board like Marty McFly.
That's because the film's director Robert Zemeckis hilariously noted during the film's eventual behind-the-scenes featurette that these hovering boards used in the sequel were actually 100% legit. And they just hadn't been released yet due to "parents groups" not letting toy manufacturers make them.
What a scamp.
And as expected, this led to more than a few kids and parents over the years heading to their local toy store and requesting one of those top secret hovering skate boards for themselves... and the director having to retract his cheeky joke later down the road.
