10 Tiny Details Actors Requested For Movies
2. Samuel L. Jackson Requested A Purple Lightsaber - The Star Wars Prequels
Samuel L. Jackson strikes again, this time for his curiously underwritten character in the Star Wars prequels, Mace Windu.
Probably the most unique and memorable aspect of Windu as a character is that he tots a purple lightsaber, a flourish which Jackson himself suggested to George Lucas.
In addition to Jackson's clear fondness for purple given how often it figures in the wardrobes of his movie characters, he also wanted to make sure he stood out in the movie's action scenes amid a sea of robed warriors.
Though Lucas was initially hesitant, he eventually acquiesced and allowed Jackson to wield a purple lightsaber during reshoots for Episode II: The Phantom Menace.
While the trilogy sadly never capitalised on Jackson's sheer badassery, the purple 'saber sure was a neat look for the character, and true to Jackson's hopes, helped Mace Windu stand out from his Jedi brethren.
