10 Tiny Horror Movie Details That Give Away Character Secrets
7. Malcolm’s Clothes - The Sixth Sense
When it comes to the fiction plot twist Mount Rushmore, you've probably got up there Darth Vader as Luke's dad, the Planet of the Apes being Earth, Homer Simpson's actual middle name being Jay, and Bruce Willis' character being dead.
Ok, one of those was a joke. The Star Wars one is overrated.
The Sixth Sense announced the arrival of director M. Night Shyamalan and introduced cinemagoers to the penchant for narrative swerves. For better, and for worse.
The reveal that Willis' Malcolm Crowe is actually just a vision seen by Cole Sear (Hayley Joel Osment) is signposted throughout the film. Other characters get goosebumps when Malcolm is near, he only ever speaks to Cole - who can famously "see dead people" - and the biggest hint of all, Malcolm's clothes.
They never change throughout the entire movie, despite it taking place across multiple days. It's never picked up on that a well-respected psychologist is actually living like a slob, because who cares what clothes a ghost wears?
It might seem cliché now, but The Sixth Sense twist is iconic for a reason. It is brilliantly plotted and absolutely wowed people watching it for the first time.
