10 Tiny Horror Movie Details That Give Away Character Secrets
5. The Housekeeper - Get Out
Get Out is a fantastic movie that gives men even more of an excuse to never meet their girlfriend's family.
Chris, portrayed by the outlandishly good Daniel Kaluuya, is a black man dating a white woman, Rose (Allison Williams). He's nervous about meeting her parents, as one would expect, but his fears are realised in the worst possible way when his stay at their country house soon turns into a nightmare.
Rose's family have been kidnapping black people and possessing their bodies for generations, and Chris is next on the list. Clues to their sinister activities are scattered throughout Jordan Peele's excellent debut, including when Rose's father talks about his own mother.
When in the kitchen, Dean talks about his mother Marianne and how she loved this particular room. He flippantly mentions that they "keep a piece of her in there", which seems to refer to the kitchen.
What he's actually talking about is the family's black housekeeper Georgina, who has been possessed by Marianne. It's a hint that only works in hindsight and a brilliant touch from Peele.
Just remember, next time you meet your significant other's family for the first time, remember to ask if they're part of a racist cult.
They'll understand.
