10 Toughest Dilemmas In Horror Movies
7. Would You Save Your Baby If It Meant Leaving Them With A Psychopath? - Inside
2007's legendarily savage French horror film Inside focuses on a young pregnant woman, Sarah (Alysson Paradis), who finds herself terrorised by a violent stranger (BĂ©atrice Dalle) who wishes to take her unborn baby by any means necessary.
In the film's climax, Sarah starts giving birth, but realises that the baby is stuck and will likely die if it isn't removed via Caesarean section.
At this moment, she reluctantly allows the stranger to use a pair of scissors to perform an impromptu Caesarean, cutting her womb open and removing the baby in time. Unsurprisingly, the traumatic nature of the "surgery" quickly causes Sarah's own demise.
It's an impossible decision that Sarah is forced to make in a time-sensitive scenario - do you willingly allow your attacker to "rescue" your baby, even though you'll die and your baby will be left to be raised by a murderous psychopath?
Granted, Sarah's options were extremely limited, given both her delicate state and the injuries she'd suffered throughout the film, but choosing between your baby dying in the womb and giving them to a maniac killer is... a tricky one.
For starters, there's absolutely no guarantee the deranged woman won't kill the baby in the near-future or simply fail to care for it, and that's without getting into the possibility that she'll raise the child to be a murderer just like herself.
Yet for some - like Sarah - knowing that their progeny will at least be born is a silver lining, regardless of the bleak outlook for their wider future.
