Like Justice League, Suicide Squad was dramatically reshaped during its post-production process as Warner Bros enforced tonal changes based on the negative reception to the joyless Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

If you want to see how the movie's tone shifted from director David Ayer's original vision, check out the moody trailer that debuted at Comic-Con 2015 and compare it to the Bohemian Rhapsody-infused adrenaline blasts that followed.

Not only was the debut trailer 50 shades darker, it included footage that was missing from the final cut, notably a scene depicting Viola Davis's Amanda Waller discussing Superman and the other Metahumans, and sounding super badass in the process.

"Maybe Superman was some kind of beacon for them to creep back from the shadows," she says, discussing the new threat that is rising in the DC Universe.

No doubt scenes like this were tossed on the scrap heap to make Suicide Squad lighter and faster paced, but you have to wonder how the movie would have turned out if Ayer was given free reign to make the gritty picture he had planned.
