10 Truly Unique Sci-Fi Movie Fight Scenes

A great deal has been discussed about the Wachowskis' brilliant franchise-starter and with good reason. This sci-fi classic features memorable characters, profound themes surrounding identity, and of course, top-tier action that has been endlessly aped in different films (including its own sequels) to wildly varying levels of success.

The film expertly takes advantage of its ''anything is possible in the Matrix'' rule and runs with it. The action blends wuxia-martial arts sensibilities with science fiction tropes to great success. An excellent example of this combination is seen in the film's climactic showdown between Neo and Agent Smith.

The scene works for a solid number of reasons. It's well shot, making it easy to follow Neo and Smith's respective actions and lets viewers soak in every detail of the impressive choreography.
