10 Truths We Don't Want To Admit About The Dark Knight Rises

9. Blake's Method Of Identifying Batman Is Really Lame

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfqYdon7hSw To my total surprise, John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) confronts Batman about his identity extremely early on in The Dark Knight Rises, visiting Bruce Wayne's mansion and explaining that he's known for quite a while. This is all well and good, but the means through which he figured it out is pretty ropey by the standards of this series; as a kid at the orphanage, Blake was visited by Bruce Wayne, and recognised that look of loss in his eyes (from also having dead parents), which allowed him to figure out that he was Batman. Even ignoring the relatively clumsy way it's explained in the film, isn't this just a little too easy? It would have made more sense if Blake has compounded the proof a little more, noting that Bruce went into exile around the same time that Batman did, which would also make us buy more easily into the strength of his detective skills and therefore his worthiness to inherit Batman's legacy.
