10 Unbelievable Movies Based On True Stories

1. 50 First Dates

There's no way this ridiculous Adam Sandler romantic comedy, about a man who tries to woo a woman (Drew Barrymore) who forgets everything when she wakes up, could be based on fact, right? Michelle Philpots is a British woman suffers from the very same condition, as a result of two head injuries she suffered in 1985 and 1990, and though she has managed to marry since the incident, she has to be reminded of this fact every morning by her husband, who shows her a photo album. It sounds too good to be true even though it's been verified by numerous reports and newspapers online; how does she not freak the Hell out when she wakes up next to some strange man? Either way, the couple seems to make it work, and knowing this makes the film version seem ever so slightly more plausible. It is, however, still not a very good film, despite the best intentions. Which ridiculous movie based on a true story is your favourite? Let us know in the comments below.
