10 Unbelievable Sports Stories Hollywood Should Turn Into Movies

9. Dennis Rodman, Self-Proclaimed North Korean Diplomat

Pitch: Fail Safe meets My Giant Former National Basketball Association player Dennis Rodman was known for his bad behaviour on and off the court and for his multi-color hairstyles. After his major league career ended in 2000, Rodman played on various semi-professional teams and in Finland, the UK, and the Philippines until 2006. Rodman then resurfaced in 2013 when he made headlines for visiting North Korea as a personal friend of dictator Kim Jong-un. People were perplexed to see the 6'7" Rodman paling around with the diminutive Kim Jong-un. It turned out that lifelong basketball fan Kim Jong-un asked Rodman to train the North Korean national basketball team. Rodman then seemingly appointed himself U.S. envoy to North Korea (despite the countries having no diplomatic relations) and spoke out about U.S.-North Korean relations. He even brought a team of ex-NBA players to play an exhibition game for Kim Jong-un's birthday in January 2014. The U.S. government has been less than pleased with Rodman€™s €œhoops diplomacy,€ though the situation inspired more laughs than anger. Naturally, 20th Century Fox jumped at the chance to develop a comedy movie titled Diplomats about Rodman€™s North Korean visits, but little has been announced about the project.
