9. Hulk Saves Iron Man (The Avengers)
When New York was being overrun with aliens at the climax of the Avengers movie, the World Security Council felt they had no other option than to strike Manhattan with a nuclear missile in order to remove the Chitauri threat. In spite of Nick Furys objections, they fired the missile. Fury immediately made contact with Tony Stark, requesting that he intercept the missile in order to divert it away from the heavily populated area. Stark agreed to do so and said that he knew exactly where to put it. A portal was open above New York, from which the Chitauri had come to Earth. Stark directed the missile in to it, following it in order to ensure it reached its destination. He lapsed in to unconsciousness, just as he let go of the missile, which subsequently took out the Chitauri mothership. His limp, lifeless body then fell back through the portal back to Earth. The Hulk - usually nothing more than a dumb brute, who did nothing but smash things - had the wherewithal and conscientiousness to catch him as he was falling, potentially saving his life, and laid him in the middle of a New York street, where he would soon awaken.
