2. Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
I'm going to go out on a pretty sturdy limb here and say that I'm not alone in claiming to be a huge fan of Mad Max. I saw the first film when I was much younger and it always stayed with me. It wasn't much later that I discovered The Road Warrior and realized what a billion other films had been aspiring to all this time. However, it would be years until I finally watched Beyond Thunderdome. All I was ever told about Beyond Thunderdome is that it was a horrible piece of garbage. That everyone hated it. It was an incredibly stupid follow up to Road Warrior and there was nothing to be done about it except pretend that it never existed. So I never watched it until finally my love for the other two films won out and I gave it a try. Not only was I pleasantly blown away by how good it actually is, but was also shocked to find out that Thunderdome received good reviews as well. The film manages to add so much depth to both Max's world and character while still giving the audience what they came for. Not to mention it also stars a manic Tina Turner. Overall, extremely under-rated science fiction movie. Give it at least one more try before the release of Fury Road.
