We're just two days away from the biggest movie event of the year: the 86th Academy Awards! The last 6 months of crazed campaigning and ceaseless speculation will be over soon, as the year's best achievements in film will be rewarded, with Best Picture hopefuls 12 Years A Slave and Gravity squaring down in what is easily the tightest Oscar race in recent memory. But what about those nominees who probably aren't going to win, but we can't help but root for anyway? It's fair to say that most of the major categories are already sewn up, but if the Oscars have shown us anything, it's that nothing is certain until the envelope has been opened: who can forget the shock of Brokeback Mountain losing Best Picture over Crash in 2006? With a little luck, it's possible (if not terribly likely) that a few of these underdogs might scoop the Oscar up for themselves. Though the winners will for the most part be thoroughly deserving, we all love a good Cinderella story, so we'll be crossing our fingers for these 10 nominees this Sunday.
