10 Underrated Animated Movies That Deserve A Second Chance

With a cast comprising of Brad Pitt, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill, it's hard to see how Megamind went unappreciated for so long. Or it would be, until you realise it released shortly after Despicable Me and shares a similar plot. However, this time the better movie lost.

Megamind is a story about the super-villain actually getting the better of the hero, and tyrannically reigning over his city. It's a unique premise for an animated movie but, unfortunately for Megamind, Despicable Me released a few months earlier, and it too featured the villain as the protagonist. You could argue timing was the biggest reason for Megamind's failure, that and lacking a marketable mascot in the form of the Minions, but it was certainly a better movie.

Will Ferrell's standard humour was on-show throughout the movie, and it benefited for it. Add-in the always-hilarious David Cross as his evil fish sidekick and you have a side-splitting duo that works more for adults than it did for kids. Megamind is a great movie that deserves a second chance, even if just for that one Barack Obama reference. You'll know it when you see it.
