Munich opened to critical acclaim and awards attention acquiring five Oscar nominations including one for Steven Spielberg's direction, however it failed to resonate with audiences achieving only mild box office success. After the Munich Massacre at the Olympics in 1972, the Israeli government chooses five men to hunt down those that were responsible

The vengeance thriller has a star-studded cast lead by Eric Bana and is filled with intense and exciting moments of action to keep people on the edge of their seats. The bloated running time of just under three hours and the incredibly dark themes on moral goodness and justice is perhaps what kept this film as one of the worst performing domestic films in Spielberg's long and illustrious career.

With a filmography as long and enduring as Spielberg's, it is unsurprising that one of his films would slip through the cracks, it is just a shame it was a film as engaging as Munich. It's a film that feels both mature and developed and, like the characters, you'll end up questioning whether what you're seeing is really justice or not.
