10 Underrated Horror Film Sequels That Deserve Another Chance This Halloween

4. The Devil's Rejects

Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, while a definitely flawed and kind of run-of-the-mill horror film, boasted vast potential under its largely unoriginal surface. With a couple of interesting characters and an imaginatively surreal aesthetic, the original film promised so much more than what its Texas Chainsaw Massacre inspired plot allowed for. Fortunately, Zombie's sequel The Devil's Rejects took the elements that should have been focused on in that first film and completely runs away with them. A horror film road movie, Zombie's second effort focuses on the twisted family of the first flick, following them on the run from an entire police force as they kill, kidnap and mutilate their way from town to town. As an added bonus there's some dark humour thrown in for good measure too, which makes sure the admittedly grimy aesthetic and characters don't become too oppressive. It's definitely the darkest flick on this list, yet The Devil's Rejects is one of the only films that has successfully captured that '70s Grindhouse atmosphere that so many movies try to replicate.
