10 Underrated Horror Movie Moments That Will Scar You For Life
4. The Hospital Nightmare - Jacob’s Ladder
Fatal Attraction director Adrian Lyne's cult classic Jacob's Ladder remains a wildly underrated flick, and it's a much watch for fans of horror, war cinema, twisty psychedelia, mysteries, and just great filmmaking alike.
It also features one of the all time great twist endings, but that's not what this list is here to discuss.
No, the underrated scene which deserves to be singled out in this 1990 effort comes about midway through the flick and can be divulged without any spoilers. The Shawshank Redemption star Tim Robbins stars at the titular troubled vet who is plagued by nightmarish visions of demons appearing around his rain soaked city home, and he's desperate to uncover what they mean.
The one of these which will stick with even the hardiest horror viewer, however, is the hospital visit which looks like an episode of The Twilight Zone helmed by Eraserhead era David Lynch. A horrified Jacob is strapped to a gurney and wheeled through filthy floors covered in piles of guts whilst eyeless doctors poke oversized needles into him, demonic entities appearing to occupy the neighbouring rooms.
Sweet dreams!
