10 Underrated John Williams Tracks

1. The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

The Rise of Skywalker is a hotly debated piece of pop culture real estate. One of the many things brought up in these discussions is that the film's chaotic post-production led to the cutting of much of John Williams' score for the film. The rumor was that the film would contain every theme or motif that Williams had ever composed for the space opera.

Though that doesn't seem to be the case, the film's score is still a triumphant goodbye to a franchise that Williams has defined. His theme for the Resistance sounds, at first, like every other "good guy theme" in the saga. But it's something new and sounds truly hopeful, as if this last battle against evil will truly be the end of a long struggle. It binds the three main heroes together and highlights their camaraderie. Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac have terrific chemistry and it's a shame they only got one film to show it off.

Williams, as usual, outdoes himself in this latest Star War but this theme feels like a fond farewell to all the rebels of the franchise's past and present.
