10 More Underrated Sci-Fi Films You Need To Love

10. Escape From Absolom

I am going to be a stand up guy and level with you. The Ray Liotta actioner, Escape From Absolom, also re-titled in some countries as No Escape (wonder why), was not nearly as forgettable as it became. The film is set in a dystopian prison where the Warden is privately paid to make people disappear. This is accomplished by placing them on an island where the prisoners are allowed to govern themselves. About 90% of the island uses this as an excuse to become raving savages; the other 10% Liotta's character helps are the good guys. The Warden's crew does nothing unless someone tries to leave the island in which case he blows them sky high. I heard about this movie from watching an obscure trailer placed on some obscure never released on DVD VHS tape and asking my friend, "What's that? Looks cool." His reply, "I have no idea. It's the Ray Liotta movie no one ever saw or talks about." A shame. Poor sci-fi prison movies can never seem to catch a break.
